Melissa Rothstein’s passion for the Mexican island of Holbox has led to a project, created in Landmark Education’s Self-Expression and Leadership Program, which empowers artists to create murals that embody a vision of the island that is rooted in what is important to residents.
Rothstein has created a Kickstarter Campaign to fund the creation of 12 murals that will embody residents’ dreams and visions regarding the past, present, and future of Holbox.
The Kickstarter campaign is raising $15,000 to bring 12 artists to the island, provide lodging, materials and what is needed to make the murals happen. Rothstein herself will be one of the 12 artists, and will use her mural to promote the conservation of endangered species and ecosystems on the island.
