Teddy-Medic program helps children deal with trauma

About 150 cuddly, colorful Teddy Bears were donated to the Peoria Fire Department’s ‘Teddy-Media’ program Saturday morning.

Peoria Fire Department Spokesperson Danny Comella said the “Teddy-Medic” program is designed to provide care and compassion to children who are injured, ill, have witnessed a tragic event or are being transported to ambulance to the hospital.

The donation of bears was made possible by the Preoria Rotary Club, Matt Woosley’s State Farm Agency, Landmark Education and other concerned and compassionate individuals throughout the community.

“These bears will provide comfort as well as help children to take their mind off of the situation, putting them more at ease,” Comella said. “Teddy-Medics will be valuable cargo on all Peoria fire trucks.”
