Jennifer Leonard-Biddle, a graduate of the Landmark Forum who lives in St. Charles, Illinois, brought something new to her home town: Snorkeling. On February 3rd she organized a clinic for residents of the Tri-cities who wanted to learn how to snorkel. The clinic was held at the Norris Recreation Center Pool. Leonard’ Biddle’s project received prominent attention from her local newspaper, the St. Charles Republican.
She partnered with The Sea Lions Dive Shop of Hanover Park to make the event happen–The shop donated snorkels, masks and fins and provided instructors for the clinic. The event came about as a result of Leonard-Biddle’s participation in the Self-Expression and Leadership Program.
“I just love to snorkel when I go on vacation,” she says. “I had the opportunity to do a community project that would benefit people and that I was passionate about. It’s an opportunity to open up a whole new world to people.
Leonard-Biddle also received the city of St. Charles’ 2007 volunteer of the year award. She is committed to ongoingly volunteer in ways that bring people together on adventures–She is looking at sky diving, white water rafting and rock climbing as activities to make available to people.
