Genesis Academy Summer Institute Featured on WBEZ’s Worldview

LWN Genesis Summer InstituteGenesis at the Crossroads, the music-based, peace building non-profit organization started by Wendy Sternberg as her project in the Self-Expression and Leadership Program back in 1999, has held its first Genesis Academy Summer Institute, a pilot program wherein 20 young people from around the world came to Chicago to engage in a cross cultural, peace building curriculum. The program was highlighted on WBEZ’s Worldview, a program on Chicago’s leading public radio station.

Sternberg explained on the program how the Summer Institute has four major foci: music and peace building, environmental sustainability (and how that relates to conflict resolution), heroes and human rights, and peace journalism. The pilot program is a forerunner of the Genesis Academy for Global Leadership, Genesis’ youth leadership school which is slated to open in 2017 in Chicago and San Diego.

Listen to the entire interview on the WBEZ site with Sternberg and two of the international students from the Summer Institute.

This is one of the most creative projects I have come across. It is very inspirational as many of the Landmark graduates work towards the betterment of the society. Life transforms after the Forum and its effects are visible right after the course! My course was extremely lively and transformational; we laughed, cried and had fun! Now Landmarks courses feel homely because there are no secrets to keep and nothing to pretend about. I am very comfortable during the courses. Currently, I am pursuing the Landmark’s Advance course. I hope many people get involved in this community and make this world a peaceful place to reside in.
