Punjabi Poetry Fair Connects Poets New and Old

LEN - punjabi poetry festivalOver 100 established Punjabi poets came together recently with up and coming poets at a poetry fair organized by Jaswant Singh Zafar as his project in Landmark’s Self-Expression and Leadership Program.

In the inaugural session S. Amarjit Singh Grewal welcomed the poets, scholars and audience. Four senior poets inaugurated this fair with recitations of their latest poems.  Dr. Surjit Patar presided over the inaugural session, while eminent scholar Dr. Jagjit Singh presented the keynote address giving a detailed view of contemporary Punjabi poetry of all shades.

At least half of the established poets publish in online media. “There is a growing tribe of creative writers who post works online,” Said Zafar. “We can’t ignore them.”
